Our summer holiday doesn’t start for another few weeks.

We are off to Cornwall on the southwest coast of England. It’s an amazing place with white sand beaches and plenty to do. We are there for two weeks. Can’t wait!

Going to visit relatives in the UK. First time in 5 years that I've been able to see them. So excited to introduce the family to my kid. 🐣

My son is finally old enough to get in a kayak. We are taking the kayaks that have been hanging in my garage rafters for 5 years out this summer regularly. I’m gonna throw some open water swimming in while my wife and son follow along in the kayak. Looking forward to the adventures!

Please let us know how your projects go, I’m curious to see the results!

We’re heading home to my parents in Hungary in 3 weeks. We will stay for 3 weeks. We can’t wait! We might make a trip to Budapest for a couple days, depending on my friends’ availability, but we might just stay with my parents the whole time.

Day- and short-weekend trips to the coast or to the mountains. Big trees. And five weeks of day-camp for the kiddos so we can pause the work–childcare shuffle we've been doing for two weeks. Kind of ho-hum but stealing time when we can. First summer not as a teacher, so it's a brave new world.

Always been a firm believer that at least part of Summer should be more or less given over to totally unstructured time where my son sets his own agenda, perhaps punctuated by a few recurring activities (evening walks, weekend hikes, afternoon swimming holes).

Other time is devoted to the grandparents, sometimes combined with a Summer trip to visit family, if, like mine, family is kind of scattered around the world. These usually last 3-4 weeks, often involve renting a big house somewhere cheap, and giving grandparents a chance to spoil and help with childcare.

Finally, I've sent my son to a sleep-away camp for part of the Summer. I did this as a kid 7 years in a row, and for me it was completely formative. It exposed me to completely different peers and role models *other* than the ones where my school and neighborhood were.

Rejoy, Kevin! It could be worse. In Italy the summer holidays are 14 WEEKS!

But now that we're fully settled in UK, we're looking forward to the "meagre" 6 weeks of holidays to actually fly to Italy.

We'll be there two weeks completely off (Sardinia!) and 4 weeks working from there (our company allows us to work from anywhere for 4 weeks). This solves basically everything, with grandma looking after the girls while I work, and the mandatory gelato after dinner. No more 8pm sleeping time. In Italy everything is allowed (sort of).

We'll try to invest that time to make good memories.

Last summer was magnificent, with a lot of "baby dance", water slides and randomly meeting kids when we're out. Very much looking forward to it!

It’s our first UK summer with a school going child starting towards the end of July (I’m astounded Spain has 11 weeks off - I thought 6 was monumental) so we’re not wholly sure yet what we’re going to do (or manage), but likely a combination of planned time off during the week, reliance on grandparents, and good old summer school clubs! 😂

This is our last summer before school starts for our daughter, so we luckily still have daycare - but we will be hosting family over the course of a month between July and August.

We are finishing our two months of Birthday/Holidays hell with my wife, myself, my mother-in-law, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and my daughters birthday all falling in May and June. So I’m looking forward to relaxing, with some small day trips on weekends when we can.

My family is SO EXCITED, because we are moving, getting all new furniture,... and will finally be neighbors to our best friends of 30 years!!

This house puts us directly between our kids north and kids south... only 45 min each direction.

So this summer is playing with our loved ones, BECAUSE NOW WE CAN! 😎❤️🎊🎉
