A special hello to those of you in the UK, literally battening down the hatches in anticipation of “the worst storm in decades.” Stay safe!

This weekend let’s talk about our phones, and how they help us navigate the complexities of parenting. I want to know about the apps that you rely on—to help with habits, to manage stress levels, to simplify your life, or to just escape from it all every now and then.

What are some of the apps on your phone that you can’t do without?

I’ll share some of mine in the comments, and looking forward to discovering new ones from you all.

This is a really fascinating thread and really useful to know. Also reassuring that there’s a lot of us dads out there trying to take control and make a difference to our lives and our families.

I’m in a place now, that to I find too much information really overwhelming and that includes lots of apps to organise my life. and I have really basic needs, Yet need to be available so much in the modern world.

Similar to our last thread, where I mentioned that mastering sleep gave me more presence and peace to be able to manage all the other elements of life. I like finding one or two things that bring order to everything else. I’m trying to be less technology, more outdoors. I’m also a creature of habit, once I get comfortable it’s hard to change.

So the usual WhatsApp, Instagram and gmail.

My wife is trying to get me into SHIFT. It’s a collective desk top app of all your emails and messenger apps in one place. Really useful for syncing calendars and info. My brain doesn’t like it.

I write a physical journal, I’ve used the Wim Hof app for a while to give me a place to hold myself accountable, to do the breath work, the meditations and take cold showers.

Highly recommend it for motivation and setting goals.

Parenting in particular:

1. Love While Parenting - to learn and keep good relationship and parenting habits top of mind

2. Moshi - bedtime settling

3. Huckleberry - nap tracking

EDIT: and a huuuuge +1 to Digital Wellbeing and the like
