A friend of mine got COVID after being fully vaxxed. it was sobering but it happens. I hope it's not a long haul! I also can't believe a.) those substack review solicitation things exist b.) that you invited reviews when you're feeling so crappy!

Again, praying for a quick recovery from this thing!

Loved that your post brought up the perceived invincibility of our parents. I was forced to consider when I realized that my parents weren’t invincible. My dad didn’t believe in doctors and rarely got sick. But I’ll never forget the day he was sidelined for a week with the worst flu I had seen. I walked in to see him motionless in bed, forced to respond to my trivial inquiries with one-word grunts. Hard to overstate the value of no longer taking anyone or anything for granted, as difficult as it was and clearly as difficult as it is for your children, Kevin. Thank you for still committing yourself to this community.

Was hoping that your post last week wasn’t going to lead to a positive Covid-19 diagnosis. Alas. Rest up, Kevin.

I thought you really summed up a lot of the thoughts we’ve all had over the past couple of years. Sitting here double jabbed, I feel pretty smug and much relieved, yet I also fear that we’re only another variant away from a return to lockdowns and healthcare meltdowns… let’s hope not. Having become a father during the pandemic, my anxiety has been off the scale. Lockdowns, social distancing and isolation is one thing - having to do so as a father and husband is quite another.

Get well soon, Kevin!
